What is hypnosis?
Hypnosis is a natural, altered state of awareness that is often called trance.
Have you ever been watching the television, and someone has called your name a few times, but you haven’t heard them because you were so engrossed? Or you’re driving along the motorway, and you’ve realised that you’ve not conciously noticed the last few junctions pass you by? Or even you’re in a conversation but you’re day dreaming to another place before realising this is important?
These are all natural states of trance. Cognitive hypnotherapy utilises these natural resources in order to help you bring about powerful change. Everyones’ experience of it will be different and unique to them. A commonality in what people often describe to me after their first session is a clear head and a feeling of absolute relaxation.
Will I be in control?
Absolutely. Trance is simply an altered state of awareness. It’s similar to that short time between sleeping and waking up fully.
You’re perfectly capable of getting up whenever you want to, and it’s perfectly natural to open your eyes; it’s just often you choose not to because you’re in such a relaxed, comfortable place.
How many sessions does it take?
This question is a little more difficult because I believe in working with human beings not computers.
There isn’t a set template in how quickly change can happen.
With some people change can almost be instantaneous, and with others it can take a little longer. As a benchmark, between 2-6 sessions (of an hour) is where the majority of people work most effectively.
In working effectively, please note that there is no guarantee of a cure with any issue but a continued dialogue between both the therapist and the client in the best way forward.
Each session is individually tailored towards the individual client. I don’t believe in using pre-prepared scripts; each client will recieve the very best of my expertise during the session according to their individual needs.
How much do you charge?
The rate for a session is £220 for 60-90 minutes. Sessions are by appointment only and need to be booked at least 7 days in advance on 07738088632.
I appreciate for some people the cost is easily affordable and a significant investment for others. If money is the only thing stopping you getting in touch, please call me anyway. I can often refer you to another therapist who may be a better fit or we can always arrange a payment plan that is manageable for you.
Also, in line with the Help for Homecoming Heroes scheme, if you are current or ex-military personnel suffering from depression, anxiety or PTSD – please mention this as there is a subsidy scheme in place.
What is NLP?
NLP stands for Neuro-Linguistic Programming. It was created by Richard Bandler and John Grinder in the 1980’s and has been used in therapy for over 25 years. Modelling the very best of hypnotherapists and change workers enabled them to design an attitude of curiosity that absolutely lies at the heart of Cognitive Hypnotherapy.
NLP New Code is John Grinder’s 21st Century Model of therapy. There are a limited number of practitioners in the entire world and we have been trained to work with an individual’s unconcious in bringing about brief change which is entirely congruent with what you want to happen today.
Is Cognitive Hypnotherapy safe?
In a BBC research project recently they stated:
‘Absolutely. Hypnosis is a 100% natural state; everyone has been in trance many times today. It is not possible to become stuck in trance, as the client is always in control. No one can stay in trance indefinitely; even if the therapist stopped talking for a while, the client’s bodily functions would eventually arouse him. The worst thing that can happen is that the client may become too comfortable and fall asleep!’
